Weiter is the work of freelance brand and strategy director Orwell McG.

I work with culturally impactful brands to grow their business by clearly communicating value through the words they use and the way they look.

Increasing membership for a historic brand

Scottish Engineering

Scottish Engineering

In changing direction and brand identity for an organisation with 155 years of heritage, we wanted to get it right, we wanted it done quickly, and most of all we could not damage Scottish Engineering’s standing or reputation whilst we did it. Weiter worked in a calm, measured manner and their creativity reminded us why we were trusting it to people with the necessary talents we do not have.

Paul Sheerin, Chief Executive
Starting with in-depth research through to design and data-led brand development, we rebuilt the historic ScotEng brand.

We designed a new website, a family of sub-brands and marketing materials to promote membership as well as training programmes and events.

Crafting a sleek identity for a mysterious brand world

Spectre

Spectre

This was a wide project involving naming the company, brand identity, icons, documents and team clothing designs.

The name Spectre was a moment of inspiration on my part. The word suited the feel the owners wanted from the brand“ sleek, cool feel with an air of mystery and the connotations of being ghosts, in the background, making clients web products work, made the name perfect for the brand.

I used Courier New to give the feel of a top secret document written out on a typewriter. The codebreaker animation was a fun addition.

At the time Spectre were a values led business delivering a range or services. They needed a way to explain those values and services without reams of text or boring clichés.

The icons became a key to show what services had been enlisted to deliver a project. They appeared on the website, in sales brochures and in proposals, a little part of the brand language showing viewers how things work in Spectre’s brand world.

Futurmatik

I designed a website for Futurematik that reflects their innovative spirit and provides users with a seamless experience, serving as an example of their work. From sleek design elements to intuitive navigation, every aspect of the website was crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

I spearheaded the entire process – from crafting compelling copy to designing the website’s structure, culminating in a successful launch. The team’s collaborative efforts ensured that every element of the website resonated with Futurematik’s brand identity while prioritizing user experience.

TownRock Energy

TownRock Energy

To support TownRock’s push to develop geothermal energy in the UK, I designed a sales doc highlighting the key benefits and facts around the burgeoning energy alternative.

I created a graphic style that stands in stark contrast to other green energy brands adding icons and infographics to display detained information in easy to digest ways.

In the year following publication TownRock secured huge financial backers as well as contracts to develop heat pumps. Their body-heat project with Glasgow’s SWG3 made national news and laid a platform for similar projects in the UK.
